Hi all,

Is there anybody using Ruckus successfully with a density of about 30 clients per room? This needs to be in a typical school setup so adjacent rooms could also have 30 clients.

If you are, please let me know and I'll contact you directly for more info.

Thanks

Yes, but it all depends on what these clients are doing. I had 40 laptops out all running iplayer and 4od concurrently and didn't find any problems.

Was this on a single AP? If so, can you tell me what model AP it was?

Thanks

Steve

I run some Ruckus 7363 dual band APs. My 2.4GHz, 1x1 clients have long login times at that density (I regret buying them). I would seriously recommend dual band, 2x2 WLAN cards in your clients as a minimum.

Hi

Did you tried to work with Ruckus Support about long login time issue ? I'm asking how good their support works as we're looking for Ruckus solution as our new WLAN solution. I also consider other alternatives : Meraki and Aerohive.

Meraki kit is excellent from the different systems ive used the management is easy, not bad for a Uni project 6 Years later being bought by Cisco for $1.2 billion

Yea just wait for them to stick a Cisco badge on the Meraki Kit and double the price!

From speaking with out account manager at Meraki that's not going to happen. There will be references to Cisco on it but it's going to be kept as is apparently.

I do hope it makes people look at them a little more now they have the recognition of one of the largest players on the market.

You can also manage switches, routers firewalls and mobile devices from the same console.

the Meraki website Aaron god awfully slow tho after the news broke!

Hi Steve,

Very much- Yes! We've got quite literally hundreds of sites running upwards of 60 concurrent connections per Ruckus AP, I've dropped you a PM to discuss further.

Thanks,

Mark
