Faulty Hitachi ED-X10

Just had a look at a faulty ED-X10.

 

I just pulled the power and reset the processor on it to start with.

 

When it turns on you can see the ocasional flcker of light through the lens and then it shuts down with the lamp led illuminated in red.

 

Is this just a failed bulb that can't strike fully?

Sounds like it, how many hours has it on the lamp? or has it been knocked when on? this would distort the lamp (the lamp is actually the thin tube in the center of the reflector) if it is distorted its life is very very reduced.

It's ceiling mounted so hasn't been knocked so I would think it's just new bulb time then.
