CPU Scanner like Crucials Memory scanner?

Does anyone know of a site that does CPU scanning for upgrades like Crucial does for memory?

Not aware of one directly but most of the time getting the motherboard model is all you need.

I think CPUID shows it.

Had a look on that, but seems the model doesn't exist anywhere officially MCP73PVT-PM It's an old Packard Bell, but doesn't seem that model actually links to a real motherboard. Only other sites with people asking about it too.

I use CPU-Z to find out the current processor and motherboard (make/model) and then check the "CPU support list" on the PC/motherboard manufacturers website.

 

Edit. Does your Packard Bell PC take Socket 775 processors and what does it currently have in it at the moment?

It's a Quad Core Q8300 currently.

I reckon a (3GHz) Core 2 Quad Q9650 should work in that PC since it was released a few months before the (2.5GHz) Q8300 was.
