Smartboard 680 & SmartInk

I have a staff member who is having difficulty using the smartboard with normal annotation I noticed he had got smart ink installed could this be the reason that when he selects a pen the tools (on the laptop and the board itself) recognise this but instead of normal annotation smart ink shows up in a windowed area where he was trying to draw/write etc is there a way of configuring the smart tools to use the normal setup without uninstalling smartink or should I just go ahead and remove it?

I'm guessing by your description you've got SMART Notebook 11 and the same version of the drivers? If so I don't think you can go back to the old style of drawing on the desktop as the Ink Layer has been redesigned and needs the SMART Ink app running in the background to work at all. If you uninstall it all you'll get is a mouse pointer when you try and use the pens on the desktop.
