Just to rest my mind. Am i right in think that the ISO on the Volume Licensing site is the final release of Server 2012?

As far as I'm aware, only release editions get put on the VLSC site. Betas and pre-releases are kept away from it, and put on technet instead.

If i recall they did but a pre release of Windows 8 on there at some time.

you don't need to do any prep anymore its automatically part of the installation of the AD roll, though i believe you can still do it if you want.

I cant remember what i did, i thought i did a simple backup and restore. It might have been a 3rd party tool i used.
