I am playing with the HAP Logon tracker but its not showing any data. Looking at the documentation it says

1. Download the HAP+ Logon Tracker Installer from the HAP+ Site

2. Deploy HAP User Card Setup.msi

 

Is this right? Do i need to setup user card as well as the logon tracker.msi?

 

Are there any firewall settings I need to do?

 

In a testing enviroment can I get away with it not having a cert?

Is that SQL you are using then? Have you made the web.config changes?

Yes, I managed to get the web page to view and there are no errors so I presume the SQL is linking, took a while but got there.

After you've installed the logon tracker, you need to add some start up, shutdown, logon and logoff scripts.

Done these already, I can see some data in the SQL web setup which I don't want to use bu there is no logon/logoff data... and there is no data showing in the web pages.

What's the script you are running at logon?

 

it should be hap logon tracker.exe logon https://hapurl/hap

I have the scripts in group policies as it says in the article.

 

I have the computer start up scripts as “%windir%\system32\hap logon tracker.exe” https://krusty/HAP - this is on the computers OU

I have the logon script as “%windir%\system32\hap logon tracker.exe” logon https://krusty/HAP - this is on the users OU

 

I have checked the GP results and they are showign up in there.

 

I can see some web browsing data showing for myself which I want to turn off, i really only want to know when people are logging on and off the computers.

 

The SQL server is set with the HAP user as owner of the HAP database. The firewall on the server is off. The cleint protocols are all enabled.

On the video tutorial for the SQL connection it shows the lines for the SQL to be configured for the connecotr as using localhost as the Server name. Mine won't work with that, it comes up with a SQL connection error. When i put the data in below it goes into the logs.

 

 

I think the web on HAP is working, its just that the clients aren't talking to the SQL properly.

The web tracker gets enabled by default when you use a SQL provider. It can't be turned off. The logon tracker is the live and historic logs part of the tracker.

 

I know it shouldn't make a different but can you use the server's FQDN or the external url which the SSL cert is registered with

 

Logon:

%windir%\system32\HAP Logon Tracker.exe logon https://FQDN/hap/

 

The last forward slash is important

 

Logoff/Shutdown/Start Up:

%windir%\system32\HAP Logon Tracker.exe https://FQDN/hap/

I can see that the logon tracker for logging data when they access HAP is working but its not workign to show logon and logoff events for the PC.

 

Is there a way to run this manually to check if its just the logon script thats hanging for some reason.

 

I have tried a shortcut but it kist logs the web events.
