Fresh install, only Google working on the internet

Hi,

 

I've recently had a couple of PCs that I've done a completely fresh install on, direct from the disk, not an image. On these machines, the internet works as far as Google but anything past Google just doesn't work. Google searches generate results, Google images works, Google maps works etc etc. but as soon as you click on a link or try to go to a site directly it just gets "stuck" loading. I logged the user (a different user on each PC) out and logged on as administrator and everything worked fine. This led me to believe it was possibly an issue with their profile so I recreated their profiles and the issue still remained. I installed Firefox and that works perfectly, which leads me to believe it's some kind of issue with IE. This particular user is happy to use Firefox but I'd still like to figure out what it is. Has anyone come across anything similar?

 

On a side note, my sister-in-law had the same issue on her PC at home but I fixed this by rebooting her router.

Have you tried disabling extension add-ons on IE. Also check your proxy settings and reset browser settings to default.

Yes, done all this and it still doesn't work. A full re-install of the PC works, even though I go through the exact same procedure. I've had a few reports of other people experiencing the same but nobody has any kind of solution. Got another one doing it now, exactly the same, completely fresh install, works fine as admin, then when another user logs on nothing past Google. Firefox works fine.

Did anyone ever have any joy with this? I've got another PC that's doing it now. This one isn't a fresh install but has just suddenly started showing the same symptoms.

I re-did my image and *touches wood* haven't had any issues yet.

Just re-imaging them with the same image works here but I don't really want to have to re-image whenever it happens. It's not happening much just on the odd PC but it's still very annoying.

its the new adobe flash, if you log in as a non admin it just sits on google and takes ages to move on works fine if you log in with admin rights, add user write permissions to these folders and see if that cures it.

This has fixed the new one that's doing it so thanks. Not had a chance to look at the original one, I'd kind of forgotten about it as she's happily using Chrome but I wonder if it's a similar thing?
