Hi all,

We have started the new term with a new installation of SCCM. The school has always used group policy for software deployment.

I personally have never used SCCM before but it looks very powerfull.

I have setup boundarys and boundary groups and have setup application deployments to some collections.

The problem we are having is that clients have strange problems:

-Some will pickup the application and install fine

- Some will pickup the application but then go to past due will be installed but never installs. (I believe i may have found what was wrong with this. We had not set a maintenance window on the collection)

- Some clients don't even pickup the new applications i have set to install. But if i manually go and open config manager control panel app and run the application deployment evaluation cycle and the app is then detected and then installed.

One of the applications we have recently deployed is only 16% compliant on 50 machines. In the application monitoring 8 show as success but all the others are in the unknown status. Im tearing my hair out over this has anyone come accross this before or can offer any kind of assistance. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Dave

Look up what all the log files are on the client and then use the log viewer to troubleshoot. Your answer should be in there somewhere.

Thanks for this but there seems to be lots of logs. Why can't microsoft make things easy!!

There's loads of logs, the sccm readers make it easier, but they do give lots of info and you can usually find the answer in the logs. Not often easy answers in SCCM.
