Hyperlinks wont open due to restrictions on this computer

Hi guys,

We have a problem at the moment where hyperlinks wont open from any application (outlook, word, excel etc) on a certain build and i have found a Microsoft Fix it that works if installed manually on that PC However, tried to deploy this via group policy and it successfully installs but does not fix the problem. If you then uninstall the msi and install it manually again it works....

Any idea how i can get this to work for all users? I dont fancy installing it manually on all PC's!

The package is: MicrosoftFixit50388.msi

Is there another way to fix this if not? I have tried changing registry keys relating to .html and htmlfiles but neither worked. The build does have googlechrome on it which could be the cause?

Many thanks

Sorry should have said...Computer configuration > policies > Software Settings > Software Installation as it is an MSI. We only deploy .exe's via script. Edited by Darylrese

Ok, just wondered. Is there anything in the event log to suggest why it won't work?

Might be worth a shot to see if it will install and work correctly from a script. I have on occasion had MSI's that seem to install but don't work. Once installed through .bat or .vbs works fine. Just a thought.

thanks mate, ill give it a go!

Eventvrw says its successfully installed the msi and no errors atall. Just it doesnt fix the error. Installing manually does. There is an option in the MSI installer for a path to install it to but leaving it as default works just fine. Could this cause it?
