Cisco - Interface down

Hi,

 

On a Cisco PIX firewall when running sh int and all ports report back as "Interface Ethernetx "", is down, line protocol is down" - Is it safe to assume the device isnt being used?

It means the Ethernets are not in use presently as long as it's not part of some failover then I guess that yes it's probably safe to remove.

 

Which PIX is it?

I would say its not being used, however I'd check it physically make sure there's actually nothing plugged into it. Sounds like A PIX 515e.

Yeap, down, down heans that the hardware and software interfaces are down so as above unless it is some fancy failover you should be good.

There is failover there are 2 plugged in. I pulled this config from the one that has all the lights light up on the network ports

is there a cable connecting the 2 a DB25 if so the one that is down is waiting in failover mode.
