FN-GM Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Hi, Does any of our suppliers on here reapir cisco switches please? Thanks
Michael Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Personally this is why I prefer HP over Cisco - most products come with lifetime warranties, whereas Cisco products have 2 or 3 year warranties. Unfortunately I don't know of anyone who repairs switches to be honest.
FN-GM Posted October 9, 2012 Author Posted October 9, 2012 What is wrong with it? Personally not seen it, but it doesnt respond. When you go into the console there is nothing there. Its asif the IOS is missing
twin--turbo Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 This should help recover from an IOS failure Recovering Catalyst Fixed Configuration Switches from a Corrupted or Missing Image - Cisco Systems And all fixed config cisco switches come with limited lifetime warranty. Rob
bossman Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 @Michael: It's a pity that HP switches don't last that long hehe! Had Cisco for 11 years now and still working well not a hiccup yet I know schools with HP switches that have had 2 or 3 failures in just a couple of years good job they do come with a lifetime warranty If I did change our infrastructure it would be for Juniper not HP.
Michael Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 My experience of HP has been very different. I recently swapped some 10 year old HP2524's at one site. All worked perfectly without a problem and it was just time to upgrade to something more powerful. In all seriousness though, a lifetime warranty is fantastic and gives you confidence in a product. Why leaders like Cisco do not offer it is strange really.
bossman Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 @Michael: I too asked the question, but having used the kit for so long without problems, I feel it has already been answered, its in the build
sjatkn Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 (edited) I've just got the primary we support to send their 3650 48 port poe switch off to these folks Lifetime Repairs, Spares & Support - Comtek Network Systems (UK). It looks like it was damaged by a power surge last week which also took out some traffic lights. They claim £280+vat +£15 carriage for a fixed price repair and no charge if not repairable. I'll post back as soon as I know the outcome. Edited October 9, 2012 by sjatkn Correcting typos.
FN-GM Posted October 10, 2012 Author Posted October 10, 2012 which also took out some traffic lights Bit of an overkil for a school corridor Thanks for link
twin--turbo Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 And all fixed config cisco switches come with limited lifetime warranty. Rob Unless it's a Chassis then it's covered, just need to be the original owner and know who supplied it. Rob
sjatkn Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Bit of an overkil for a school corridor It's a trial one of the new smaller schools the government is looking at building, everyone has to go in single file!
