Creating a new access point/signal extender

Hi Guys,

 

We are currently using a BT Business Hub (Ewire) router which is access wired and wireless. The wireless signal is accessed by laptops within range. However, the signal does not extend beyone half the size of the building. We currently have the same make and model of router lying around. Is it possible to make it in to an access point?
