Thin clients using windows embedded

We currently have about 100 Wyse clients on UNIX that boot to an FTP server which gives it some configuration details of the Citrix pool to connect to. So when a user powers on the devide they get the VDI log in screen.

 

We have a few Samsung and wyse boxes that are using Windows Embedded Standard. I am curious as to how other people are using windows embedded and getting their users connected to the virtual desktop pool.

I haven't done this yet, but I am going to look at it. I looked at something called thinkiosk (its free) that replaces the explorer shell and launches an RDP session, well launches anything you want to be honest. It seemed good to me.

Have made use of the XenDesktop site in kiosk mode, the only really issue now is getting the ctrl-alt-del to be captured on the remote session rather than the local client.

I use Windows Thin PC (which is kind of the same product as Embedded Standard now) - there are some posts on this, and scripts/GPOs used to complete the SSO to RDP farm over on my blog.

We've got Windows Thin PC (kinda like Windows Embedded) on some of our older PCs that connect to a RDS farm - have used GPOs to restrict doing anything to the PC at all with a shortcut to Remote Desktop Plus (Remote Desktop Plus - Automatic login to Remote Desktop from the command line | Donkz) which acts as a locked down version of the RDP connection client.

 

When we most recently played with Citrix XenDesktop Thin Kiosk did seem to be the best option as well - nice and simple .net stuff
