Printer Issue on a Windows 7 Machine

I have a windows 7 machine on a network with a domain and whenever we try to add a printer from our network printers this message appears: There is policy in effect on this computer that will not allow the user to connect to the print queue. I do not know what I need to change on this machine to be allowed to add a printer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Has the printer been set up on the PC by an Administrator first. Not sure if its essential but that seems to work for my Windows 7. Clients.

Thank you! I will log in as an Administrator and see if it allows me to add a printer. I have the current user set up as an administrator on that machine. I appreciate your feedback.

I had a similar issue on a few clients. What I did:

1. Restart the rpc service and print spooler service. For some reason they weren't running.

2. As above try adding the printer as administrator

3. Check the driver, especially for ho try using universal print driver pcl 5 (v 6.1) I think it's something like that. We just moved to win 7 and found some xp drivers didn't work so well.

I went in as the administrator and it did not let me add a printer. Still get the same message that a policy is in effect on this computer that will not allow the user to connect to the print queue.

Have you looked at point and print restrictions? Just a thought. Also any chance you could take some screen shots? Finally does it work when there are no polices applied?

I searched and found Point and Print restrictions on this Windows 7 Machine and it was not configured. I chose to disable it and then the user could add printers. Finally..................Thanks for the help. It's resolved.
