Has anyone seen the situation where you run a report on SIMS which fails with odd

message about 'instance' that continues to eat workstation memory even after it's stopped ?

That definitely exists as a winword issue.

We experience the same thing with our system sometimes. Doesn't always need to be based on a report fail either.

Sometimes word just doesn't shut itself down correctly and leaves an instance of Winword.exe running in memory.

Found SP3 for Office 2007 solves some of the problems.

It happens on 2010 too, and you need to run the Microsoft hotfixes to fix the problem. I don't know if they're in a Service Pack yet or not.

There is now a sticky on SupportNet that refers to it, but if not, the hotfix numbers are floating around the forum somewhere.
