Neil0121 Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 (edited) Hi Guys, This is a really annoying issue. When using Microsoft office 2007 i have one user who is part of the admin team, that when ever we go to open a document through Word,Excel or any Office suite apps.It takes about a minute to load and comes up not responding. The network drives can all be accessed fine through my computer and can be clicked to open. But when the user goes to file>open within word it freezes up and takes ages.I cant understand I have removed Office File Validation,Changed local Intranet settings cant think of anything else.It is strange because when I log in as another admin user on the machine the problem does not occur..So I dont really now! Help would be much appreciated! Thanks Edited September 25, 2012 by Neil0121
mavhc Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 If you load a file from explorer instead of file>open is it fast?
Michael Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 You don't have Policy Central version 5 installed do you? You've described typically what happens. Downgrading to version 4 fixes these problems. Another idea is to boot up the computer in Safe Mode with Networking. Are the problems still there?
Neil0121 Posted September 25, 2012 Author Posted September 25, 2012 (edited) Yeah when loading from explorer..works fine! I Will check in safe mode..I do run PCE as a group policy but need to check which version because.will get back to you ASAP. Edited September 25, 2012 by Neil0121
Neil0121 Posted September 25, 2012 Author Posted September 25, 2012 It does still have the same issue in safe mode with networking?I have run policy central as a GPO but I've just noticed that the machine in question does not have it installed even though it is the right OU!? Any other suggestions?i was thinking of backing up the Outlook and trying a fresh install of Office....
Neil0121 Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 omg this is ridiculous..I have uninstalled office AND RE-INSTALLED office with no joy.I cant understand how everything seems to work fine bar opening from word and attcahing documents within outlook..??
witch Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 You said at the beginning that if you log on as another user it doesnt happen so surely that mean it HAS to be something to do with the user? Can you delete their profile, or even recreate them?
Neil0121 Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 yup that was my next plan!thanks-you.
