ColonelHawx Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Hi Guys, I seem to be having some issues installing RDS on Server 2012. I have added the following roles on my DC (which I am playing with - not used in our work environment) : Active Directory Domain Services DNS Server File & Storage Services Hyper-V Web Server When trying to installed using the quick start option it installs halfway, reboots the server and then fails after logging back in (no error codes, just failed message) When I tried the standard installation method, it installs halfway and reboots and after logging in it fails, only this time it gives me a reason : > RD Connection Broker Role Service : Failed - Could not get the health information of the server (my domain controller server name) in the allocated time > RD Web Access Role Service : Failed - Exception of type 'Microsoft.RemoteDesktop.Services.Common.RD ManagementException' was thrown. > RD Virtualization Host Role Service : Failed - Exception of type 'Microsoft.RemoteDesktop.Services.Common.RD ManagementException' was thrown. Can anyone assist me with this? I have no idea what to due, I was hoping to get VDI setup so that I can understand it better... Any help appreciated... Thanks...
Achandler Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 I read somewhere, that you can't install it on a DC, not just that it "wasn't recommended". I was reading about other issues installing the connection broker (as mine wouldn't work) and others complaining of exactly the same problem you have (though on technet). Maybe this post will help, it has some people with your issue (or similar) on it and a change they make to make it work. Install Remote Desktop Services Failed on Windows 2012 Server
ColonelHawx Posted September 25, 2012 Author Posted September 25, 2012 Hi Achandler Big thanks for the reply... Yeah you got a point there, thanks for the url, I will try it now... Its quite difficult to get RDS working, even if the Broker is Virtualized, I was having issues with it not working cause of a virtual switch configuration issue. Which is why I decided to just get it installed on my DC... Going to work on this now... Thanks once again Man!!!!
Achandler Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 No problem, in my test installation I had an issue with the broker failing to install because of the accounts the services were running under made them not start. These errors show in the event viewer though.
zachariah Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I am having no luck installing RDS on our test Server 2012 at all. It is not a DC, so that's not the problem. The server has joined the domain fine, everything else looks like it's working, but the RDS install fails (with no error message) every time.
Achandler Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 check the event viewer, i think you will find a service cannot be started, I had to change the account a service started under.
ColonelHawx Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 Interesting find there.... I will try again... Never got a chance to work around it... Been busy with my 410 studying....
