Blimey - Year Of Entry, First 4 of Surname, First 2 of firstname so John Smith is 12SmitJo

Had a two students last year with same first, middle & surname (deffo unrelated), normally we have at least 3 sets of twins per year and last year we had triplets..., John, Jack & Jimmy!

Active Directory - whats that?

Staff we use three letters from their name first letter of first name, first two of surname (no clashes as yet!)

This is what we do for staff, so Joe Bloggs would be jbl. If that's taken, we take letters one and three of their surname instead of one and two, so jbo in this case.

Students are year of entry_firstinitialSurname, so a Joey JoeJoe in yr 7 would be 12_jjoejoe

Edit - whoops and this thread was from September last year :p

Students: Year of Entry + First Three Letters of First Name + First Three Letters of Surname

Staff: ST + First Three Letters of First Name + First Three Letters of Surname

Office Admin: First Initial and then First Two Letters of Surname

Resulting in: 13THEBOI, STTHEBOI or TBO for me.

We have had some dupes, but they are rare.
