Admiral208 Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 (edited) Im trying to deploy the SOLUS3 agent to a number of workstations and im having a few problems. I have installed it on 90% of the machines but there are some that arent working. There are 2 error messages appearing in SOLUS3 on different machines. (all XP SP3) 1. Error occurred obtaining data from the remote computer 2. Agent installation timed out (not sure of the exact message, im not sat in from of the server atm) So ive done some searching and performed a number of things to try and fix it but it still will not deploy - ive made sure that the firewall is disabled on the client and the server. - ive checked the WMI service is running - checked the properties of the WMI control and ensured that the administrators group has all permissions ticked. - checked the event logs of both client and server but there are no entries. - updated the client fully - cleared the dns cache on the server and client. - restarted the client and server Im running out of ideas now and need to get this fixed asap. Are there any logs recorded anywhere? how can I access them? can I install the agent manually to see if I get any errors? Can someone help me please!! Thanks James Edited September 20, 2012 by Admiral208
bossman Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 @Admiral208: Have these workstations got dotnet 4 framework installed? Latest windows installer? Just thought I would ask as sometimes you can't see the woods for the trees
Ghostgame Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 Logs are in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Capita\Solus3\Logs for server 2008. C:\ProgramData\Capita\Solus3\Logs for server 2003. You can manually install an agent but I would not recommend it. Only best for when a workstation is not on the same domain or not on site. You can create an installer from System Settings in SOLUS3.
Admiral208 Posted September 21, 2012 Author Posted September 21, 2012 thanks guys. The machines have got .net framework on them. Here is part of the error log that seems to relate to one of the machines. Does it mean anything to anyone? 2012-09-21 08:48:02.7325|Info|rbsc-fle-03 Checking agent version. andyturpie Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 Are these machines being rebuilt witht the same name? What we have found is that we had to remove the machine from the SOLUS database, rebuild the machine and then place the machine back in SOLUS after, then the machines seems to deploy packages no problems.
Admiral208 Posted September 21, 2012 Author Posted September 21, 2012 The machines have been cloned, but they would have been resid'd and renamed before being joined to the domain and added to SOLUS.
Ghostgame Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 2012-09-21 08:48:03.1195|Info|rbsc-fle-03: Version of SOLUS 3 Agent not found. [Version()] The agent version is missing and is what is causing the agent installation to fail. This may need to be logged with Capita.
matt40k Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 You putting in domain\username in when deploying?
matt40k Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Logs are in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Capita\Solus3\Logs for server 2008. C:\ProgramData\Capita\Solus3\Logs for server 2003. Other way round
Admiral208 Posted September 23, 2012 Author Posted September 23, 2012 Thanks for the help everyone. It turned out to be a permissions problem on a shared folder that contains files needed to deploy the agent. its all sorted now. Thanks again.
