PCMCIA Network Card Cuts Out Suddenly

I have been asked by a member of staff here who has a laptop running on XP Pro: SP3 with a PCMCIA wireless card for networking at home. He says that it will cut out after using it for half an hour or so. He can get it to reconnect by removing the card and putting it in again but this again only last for a little while.

 

Windows update is up-to-date and there are no new drivers to be downloaded. I have asked him if it [the laptop] is running hot and he says that it is warm. I have suggested that he take the laptop apart and clear out any dust that he can [however I KNOW that he will back next week with more questions]

 

Anything I have not covered? [apart from that the kit is old and he can expect this sort of performance from it]
