Experiencing Projector shut off

I'm having issues with an Optoma dvd media time projector. I turn on the projector and shortly following start up a message pops up saying "fan error has occurred projector shutting down." I have done research and have not found an answer to my problem. I have a replacement lamp ordered, because the lens was reaching 100 hours left of life. I'm hesitant to replace the lamp if I'm still going to have it continue with the error message. Has anyone came across this same issue, and is it worth the fix.

This might seem obvious but have you checked the fans in the projector?

 

The ones you can see may be ok but there may be others internally that are not visible...I have been surprised by how many fans there are in some projectors!
