Iexplorer & computer missing from SERVER 2012 start menu after domain join

Hi guys/gals

 

We have a server 2003 environment and are testing server 2012.

 

When I added server2012 to the domain and the computer and internet explorer Icons vanish from the start menu…..

 

I’ve stop policy inheritance for the server thinking one of the policies might be causing it….. but its still an issue….. before we joined it to the domain it was fine…….

 

Im able to replicate this using a virtual machine also…..

 

Am I missing something obvious?

if i log in as local admin its fine... so it must be a server 2003 policy some how adjusting the server2012 start menu???? .....i'm still getting used to the "new" start menu so it might be something i'm overlooking

Does your user have a policy applied which hides either the "All Users" start menu or the Users' start menu?

 

Easiest way to identify this would be to run rsop.msc after login (if the user can).
