garethEds Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Hi Guys, Does anyone have a SuperDrive I can buy off them? Mine seems to have broken and despite reading and writing to DVD it does not recognise blank CD media - yet it plays CD media. I've searched Google for hours looking for a solution but the only one out there seems to be replacing the drive. A quick look at some videos shows the procedure is reasonably easy to do. I'm happy to do it. Has anyone here done it? Where do you guys get their spares from? Cheers Gareth
MrEprise Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Have you tried a different brand of CD media? Sounds to me like the drive doesn't like the particular brand you're using.
garethEds Posted August 25, 2012 Author Posted August 25, 2012 It used to. I doubt the ML update did anything. Did it? Gareth
MrEprise Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 It may have done. Some of their updates have done strange things with some of the Macs i've come across.
SYNACK Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Apple os updates can contain firmware updates that could easily account for this.
