NikChillin Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Is this possible? Ok, I will give some background info... The office want the email addresses of selected parents, data in excel at present, to be inserted into one email. Currently this is done through copy and paste, one at a time. I have been racking my brain, thinking of linking Access database....... Visual studio.. Excel import.. Outlook import... Anyone with sugestions?
NikChillin Posted August 17, 2012 Author Posted August 17, 2012 It sems possible if I get them into a grid in VB then multiple select from grid, copy and paste into Outlook....
SYNACK Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 (edited) Umm, there are plenty of ways to get this done, you can use macros through an access ADP Automated Email Macros; Access>Word>Outlook - Access World Forums Using Automation to Send a Microsoft Outlook Message you could also use something in VS to just access the APIs How to: Create a Mail Item, Attach a Report, and Send the Mail Item to the User's Manager C# Programming for beginners: How to use MS Outlook API to send mails http://www.codeproject.com/Tips/165548/C-Code-snippet-to-send-an-Email-with-attachment-fr or you could export to CSV then import this into the address book You can automate Office massivly, it is part of the reason it is so popular. NikChillin Posted August 17, 2012 Author Posted August 17, 2012 Interesting... there are quite a few options! Thanks Synack.

Even without exchange you can do this, just do it in the local contacts. I would do this personally.
sukh Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 true but if you have exch its managed centrally and dont need to deploy on severals users machine.

NikChillin Posted August 20, 2012 Author Posted August 20, 2012 The problem with importing the emails into contacts is that they get out of date, we need them to be taken from the database at the last moment.
sukh Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Cant the contacts be exported from the DB & then you can scriptt Md schedule a import to AD/Exch. 1
NikChillin Posted August 20, 2012 Author Posted August 20, 2012 Cant the contacts be exported from the DB & then you can scriptt Md schedule a import to AD/Exch. These email addresses are private so we don't want them put in the system. All we wan't to do is give a admin staff member an easier way to add the adresses into a bcc box on an email rather than adding them one at a time.
sukh Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Depending on how far you want to go with this, you can hide the contacts from those who shouldn't need access. Or a simple cut/copy & paste may be the answer.
