I'm struggling slightly with the drivers for this machine. It comes with Windows 7 and its a requirement that it runs XP instead. There are no XP drivers avalible on the Acer support site.

Acer Support: Downloads & Support Documents - Desktop / Veriton / Veriton M290

I have located the drivers for the display, network card and motherboard. However I cannot seem to find the drivers for the onboard sound (listed as "Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus") or another device called "PCI Simple Communications Controler" (No it's not a modem).

Anyone got any ideas where I can get these drivers?

I'm guessing after looking at the Acer drivers page that the Audio Device is a Realtek one. Realtek are fairly good at supplying XP drivers even if OEMs don't so you might find a working driver here: Realtek Software: Drivers & Utilities. Chances are however if that's not the right driver, there's bound to be one somewhere on their site.

I'm also reasonably sure that the "PCI Simple Communications Controller" is a management controller, more specifically the Intel iAMT controller in which I was able to find a driver for that on Intel's website. I have a link for that one too: AMT: Intel® AMT Driver for Intel Desktop Boards . Compared to the version on the Acer site, this one's supposedly older (it says Latest though) but it's meant to work with XP also.

I think you are correct. The audio did turn out to be a Realtek High Definition Audio chipset. Their one size fits all 32mb driver package installed ok. Likewise the other device does appear to be a Intel Management Engine device. I'm trying to load up a driver on it now but am being hampered slightly because it needs .NET 3.5 installed(!)

Anyone know where I can download the NDIS driver for the NIC (Acer M290) using ghost. Tried the ones on the realtek website Geoff & doesn't seem to work.

Cheers
