Scottish Schools

I was wondering if there is anyone on here from Scotland? or if any knows how IT support works in Schools in scotland?

 

The Wife and I are wanting to move to Scotland, Glasgow/Edinburgh Location. But I keep looking for Jobs in Education up there and can't ever find anything. So I'm wondering do Technical Staff in Scotland never move or do Scottish Schools use a managed Service?

 

If they have there own staff could someone maybe give me a bit of guidance as to where I should look as I've been trying to find jobs up there for a while now.

As far as I know, it's the same as England - some outsourcing, some in house. Are you looking in the local papers for the areas?

I've been looking online doing searches etc. but maybe the local papers would be a good idea thanks

I do IT support in schools in Aberdeenshire.

 

I am employed by Aberdeenshire council and based at one of the Academys, where I directly support them, local primary schools and (partly support) the surrounding corporate staff. So I don't just do 'school stuff'. It means that all IT staff are 'under one roof' so to speak and is meant to help with integration and support.

 

North Ayrshire council is kinda the same, but they have a technician in each academy and a team the goes around the primary's. (I worked for them too)

 

My experience is its very different to most English set ups.

 

 

 

All Scottish government jobs have to be posted on http://www.myjobscotland.gov.uk (It is an absolutely horrible site, sorry) And Glasgow is a great city, I would love to move back :-)
