Last night I began playing in a server using tekkit, the sheer number of craft items and mineable resources is crazy and over welming a first. I've began constructing my wireless mining turtle which requires a wireless modem, a computer and a diamond pick axe. You can then program the robot with commands to auto mine :) You only need to begin looking on the wiki to see the scale they've added

Anyone here have experience using tekkit?

Tekkit | Technic Pack

Tekkit and Technic are evil.

The creators have basically pinched all the mods from their original creators and not given proper credit to them - in most cases they've done it completely without permission. It is cutting the mod maker's income (which they get by using things like adfly to generate some income for the work they've put in).

Its taken them until very recently to even acknowledge any mod makers.

So, no. Not used Tekkit, but the actual mods? Yes, I've used many of them. So much fun.

I've used it, but not a great deal.. about 10 hours in total.

I mostly played around with power lines and equivalency exchange.

Kinda took the main point of Minecraft away though when you can just create whatever you want by breaking things down, so I went back to vanilla :p

I run a non-tekkit mod server, so yes I'm familiar. To be fair to the tekkit folks they have cleaned up their act a lot since the original release. They've gotten permission for everything in the current technik/tekkit pack from the various authors and removed anything that they haven't got permission for. However I prefer to roll my own combination of mods together to make a balanced and fun multi player experience. Things like Equivelent Exchange can break server economy if you are not careful.

Ah, if they've cleaned up their act that's fine. I still don't like them though.

However, you're correct with the balance issues though. Too many mods together make things too overpowered.

Its generally a case of unintended consequences of combining different mods items together. The main problem is usually related to EE just to the nature of how it works. Bit you can make some quite ridiculous things with RedPower2 and Enderchests for example too. But really, that's half the fun as well. :)
