karldenton Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Hi, We currently use XP / 2003 and have Winsuite installed. We don't use mandatory profiles or roaming - they basiscally logon and can access network drives. I would like a mandatory profile when I setup Windows 7, I know I have to call it profile.v2. If I set that up in active directory will the Windows XP machines still expect a profile as well? Thanks
tmcd35 Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Winsuite is the spawn of Satan and I'd not recommend mixing Winsuite and non-Winsuite on the same network if you are using profiles. Winsuite does stuff to profiles that make the network gods weep. The best thing you can do, if you can't upgrade all machines to Windows 7, is remove Winsuite completely and use Folder Redirection on the Start Menu and Desktop to control the user experience. As for profiles, yes XP machines will need their own mandatory profile, separate from the Window 7 one. The XP profile will not have the '.v2' in it's name.
