How to cope with mutiple forums/twitter/facebook

Ok, with my RaspberryPi journey, I'm trying to have chats on here and chats on twitter

 

What is the best way to manage this?

Get myself a blog and post the good stuff there on both edugeek/twitter and just reply on both????

Just post good stuff on edugeek and post link on twitter (going to start trying that) and reply on both?

 

@ZeroHour - are there (in very near future) plans for a bit of twitter/forum integration?

How about blog posts that are automatically posted to facebook and twitter? That cuts down some of the 'leg' work

A few things you can do ... use EG as your main blog ... but also have a Wordpress blog somewhere (one that allows for you to stick in a variety of plug-ins). You then pull your blog post into your wordpress blog via the RSS feed (there are a number of plug-ins which do this) so that each blog entry on EG also creates a blog entry on the WP blog. There are then a variety of WP plug-ins which will automatically tweet out the URL of the new blog post. The downside is that you will have people going to your WP blog to read it rather than EG ... and comments are likely to be on the WP blog.

 

You could set it so that it only posts the first few lines of the blog post on your WP blog and prevent comments, forcing people to come to EG to read the full post and comment ... but that is a bit of a pain and each extra click means people will drop away.

 

No real solution ... just a few more options.

If you went along the wordpress route Tony suggests then may I suggest the plugin 'Social' by mailchimp? It allows people to comment using their twitter/facebook, it also imports any mentions of your blog posts on those networks (that contain the article link) as comments on your WP blog. The other option is to start making the web work for you... IFTTT / Put the internet to work for you. IFTTT is fantastic.

You could probably use it to check an RSS feed (your edugeek blog for example) and post it to all the other places you fancy.

If you'd like to use that plugin, I think I'm right in saying you'll need to host the blog yourself.

 

It's very easy to do, if you get a host.
