The AA number has not been programmed

I've got a problem with a computer which when booting shows the message The AA number has not been programmed. I've tried replacing the battery & updating the BIOS but it still gives the same error. You are able to press enter and it will then load up windows and is fine, however I would like to get rid of the message.

 

I've read somewhere that it would require a replacement motherboard but I cant find anything officially. So has anyone got any other suggestions I can try to take a look at?
