edutech4schools Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Second-hand Angry Birds? EU lets software be resold Fancy a second-hand copy of Angry Birds? You could be in luck, as the Court of Justice of the European Union has ruled that software authors cannot prevent customers from reselling their products.
Guest Guest Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Wonder what MS and their new xbox has to say about this Report: No Used Games on Next Xbox - Xbox360 News at IGN
ZeroHour Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 This is a pretty huge ruling tbh, I wonder what will happen with iOS/Play etc.
Arthur Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 I wonder what will happen with iOS/Play etc. Highly-paid lawyers will find a loophole, the status quo is maintained. 1
Jamoire Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 (edited) This is a pretty huge ruling tbh, I wonder what will happen with iOS/Play etc. I suppose just because you are legally allowed to sell your license on doesn't necessarily mean that the original retailer has too make it easy or even technically able to do so. May just say you can legally sell your apple log-in etc. and the licenses that go with it? Edited July 5, 2012 by Jamoire
mrb-solutions Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 This is hillarious, and pretty stupid as it is just going to open a huge can of worms. Should be pretty entertaining to watch though!
edutech4schools Posted July 5, 2012 Author Posted July 5, 2012 The next Gen consoles are going to be download only so I hope this judgement stays, although I doubt it will. Always thought it was a bit of a P** take that you can not pass on your old downloaded software like I can for anything else. If I have paid for something it should be mine to do with as I please.
CAM Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Most importantly, it forbids the extortion scam that publishers are currently running with their Online Pass scheme.
Arthur Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 (edited) The next Gen consoles are going to be download only Sony's PS4 will definitely have an optical drive and Microsoft's Xbox 8 probably will too. Edited July 5, 2012 by Arthur
Garacesh Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Wonder how much I could get for my Steam account! There's a website out there dedicated to this. I can't remember the url, but it checks all the games you have and tells you the current price of them all added together.
