Programming Classes

We (The Academy) are starting programming classes next year. Unsure what languages or software will be used (HoIT playing cards close to their chest). At the moment students are not allowed to save or access .exe in their saves area or pen drives.

 

Principal is loathed to have a room dedicated just to programming.

 

What steps do you do to ensure little johnny doesnt create a key logger or other dangerous software.

 

Any other advise will be greatly appreciated

Running Virtualbox VMs here.

 

EDIT: Next Academic year is the first time we will be running GCSE Computing so we setup the above for this purpose.

Run Linux in the VM's so they are compiling to an incompatible architecture (assuming you use Windows PC's). Then go through the scheme of work and make sure cross compilers are not mentioned.

 

Either that or insist on Scratch being the ideal IDE for teaching and learning...
