Saving video files from BBC new website pages.

What is the best way that video files can be saved from the BBC website? or is it possible to?

 

One of our teachers has found a couple of news video clips they would like to save and use as resources or lesson material. Is this possible to do this and more importantly is it legal to do this?

Well BBC media is either Windows Media or Real Media of varying quality. Depending on what's available for the story in question.

 

You can definitely rip them with mplayer on Linux (here's a Gentoo specific howto, but it's easily adaptable to any distro with a working mplayer installation).
