Just had this sent to me by the teacher in charge of ICTAC ....

------------------

In a strange twist of fate Microsoft are giving away Visual Studio 2005 Express to people for 1 year instead of charging the nominal fee they were going too.

I'm not sure if we as a school can roll it out or not for this licence, I can't see anything that says we can't.

Now ... far be it from me to look a gift horse in the mouth ... but ...

Ok .. there are a few security issues, and he pointed it to me on the basis of "get it now whilst it's free" ... and with the view of maybe getting some of our gifted and talented into doing a few things that will tax them that little bit more.

Does anyone already use this (or Visual Studio) in their school already?

Pros and cons of it as an environment and what issues have you had?

Any suggestions for place to look for lesson ideas / plans?

Any advice appreciated.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but MS are PERMANENTLY making the visual express range (VB,C, etc) free

I'm using Visual Studio Express and Visual Basic Express and find them to be excellent pieces of software
