Adobe say they are no longer going to be providing versions of Flash for Android.

Flash support seems to me one of the main advantages of Android to a school, so removal makes it a lot less likely we would go for Android if we ventured into tablets.

They did. This is old news.

It is, but in addition they announced last November the ceasing of development for all mobile phones.

Its a big 'meh' anyway, Flash is dying.

Good riddance.

HTML5 FTW.

Yea, apart from all that educational content out there for free using flash that will never be updated. Besides, flas it not dead, its moving and rebranding. Into the browser, Chrome, IE10 and probably Firefox eventually. The Metro IE10 does flash to but only for certified sites which you can submit.

Yea, thats why we are looking at the W8 x86 variety, if all else fails there is desktop mode which runs practicly everything anyway even falling back to linux if absolutely everything else fails.

Luckily they are dropping flash for linux too.

Adobe will still provide security updates.

Flash was good back in the day when it was a small install with few security holes. Nowadays its just bloated junkware for running adverts (and an occasional educational app from outmoded suppliers). Its had its day.

Sorry. Was news to me, but we don't actually have any android devices so I don't follow developments about them at all closely.
