Live@EDU email import

Does anyone have any ideas on how to bulk import emails from Outlook Express .DBX files into Microsoft's Live@EDU?

 

We have over 100 staff email account that need to be migrated to our new Live@EDU system over the summer and MS are stating that it's not possible!

 

I presume that we will need to export Outlook Express to something that Live@EDU understands. If that makes sense?

 

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Eugh outlook express!

 

If you can get them into proper outlook somehow, just copy them to a pst file and reattach it to the new live@edu mailbox.

 

We did it this way manually and it took 2 days for over 100 users. Wasn't a huge problem to do.

Looks like it's an import into outlook first then:

 

Import your messages or account from Outlook Express to Outlook - Outlook - Office.com

If you haven't started deploying, and users aren't using the service currently, I'd recommend cancelling your Live@edu subscription and enrol straight onto Office 365 for education: http://education.office365.com; this will mean that you don't have to go through the upgrade process and get access to the new service straight away.

It looks like I'll have to set up an IMAP server and export out the .dbx files to .eml, then import them into the IMAP server, then import them into Live@EDU. Apparently the systems that Live@EDU understands are Exchange 2007/10, Exchange 2003 or IMAP server, at present we have none of these. You'd have thought MS would support their own software?

 

James, Changing to office365 won't as far as I can tell help me get the Outlook Express files directly into the cloud. And looking at the required specification for Office365 our PCs will struggle!

True, but the system requirements state - Minimum requirements for Office 365 include Office 2007+, IE 8+ and Windows 7.

Does 1 out of 3 count? ;-)
