Sharepoint 500 internal Server error after upgrade

Have run an Inplace upgrade on a server from Sharepoint 2.0 to 3.0. Upgrade was successful but neither then the central administration nor the actual site itself will load.

 

Only get 500 Internal Server error.

 

have seen a few things online but nothing seems to have worked.

 

Any ideas?
