It it worth me trying to repair in safe mode?

Edit: Dell support advice was to use last known good config which restarted the system then run the extended diagnostics which is running now

That sounds very unlike the level of service I have experienced from Dell Server Support - I just used it actually as I was head scratching when it came to labeling a new media set for Backup Exec 12.5, the extremely helpful chap from Dell remoted in and ran through it with me. First Class service that I reckon whereas you sound like you had a bit of a brush off?

The server is now back up and running. The diagnostics test didn't find anything wrong but it couldn't test the network card just that it was connected. The network drivers have been changed and the server has been running for 30 minutes without any problems but time will tell.
