[sims] What Sims permissions do ou give to Connexions staff that come in to your school?

We are having more and more Connexions staff come into our school now and I was wondering what should be the permissions given to them in System Manager for their Sims access rights?

That will depend on what you need them to access. You may well decide to create a derived group and restrict the access to certain areas.

I don't have the time to set a user defined group up at the moment and wondered what others were doing if adding them to a system defined group.

Ah, it's quicker in SysMan7 now, but probably still a faff. There are built in groups for Parent and Supply Teacher. The later has slightly more permissions. I think all areas from Parent are read only, and it's quite limited. Never used it but might be worth a try as a base, which you can then tinker with later. I would still clone it, and make your own group even if you don't edit it at this stage.

Ask your LA for a SIMS sysman group for them, then let us know so we can steal it, I mean, review it

 

(They're part of the LA in Suffolk so they get the data from the LA system... I believe).

Didn't there used to be a group for this already in SIMS?

 

Also, are connexions still around? I don't mean that maliciously, but when I was working in the FE sector everything was cut right back, with an uncertain future...

Connexions will be around whilst unemployment exists, even if it is just to create a few jobs...
