User migration and shares

Bit of an oversight this one!

 

User migration. Reasonable simple with ADMT, we can bring over usernames and passwords without a problem. However naturally we need to strip any references to profiles (moving to mandatory) and homedrive will be pointing in the wrong place.

Homedrive will need to point to a DFS namespace share which is easy enough, that can be set on each user to \\domain.internal\users\%username%

 

Not a problem - but the oversight is, how on earth do I create shares for 1500 users? Is there some handy scripts somewhere?

or are you specifically looking for a script and are using a different method of creating the root home folder location ?

Found that one, but unfortunately not quite what I need.

 

When the users are migrated from the other server it will include an existing folder structure with existing files - hence the problem
