localzuk Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 We have a calendar which we make public but have just been informed that it only shows 'Busy' for all the events in it for anyone not in our domain. In the settings for the calendar, there is a dropdown where supposedly we can choose how visible to make it but the only option visible is 'See only Free/Busy'. I've checked in the domain settings for calendar and we have 'Share all information, but outsiders cannot change calendars' selected. So, why can't we make it visible properly? Any other Google Apps users have any ideas?
cromertech Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 (edited) Here are my settings. You can see that there is a box to tick to make public and the sharing setting for the domain. I notice it says primary calendars only but I don't know what this really means. Our school calendar is shared from the administrator account with office access to add/edit events Edited June 14, 2012 by cromertech

cromertech Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Can you use the private address as a work-around? I think you can just replace it in the embed code.
tomgrindle Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Hi @localzuk , If you have a look in the invidual calendar settings there should be a setting called 'Anyone can'. Ours is set to 'See all event details'. All our other settings are exactly the same as what @cromertech said. Cheers Tom
localzuk Posted June 14, 2012 Author Posted June 14, 2012 Can you use the private address as a work-around? I think you can just replace it in the embed code. What do you mean? I don't actually deal with our website, its managed by a private company, so I'd need to tell them specifically what to change. tomgrindle Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 @ Localzuk If you go into Google Calendar. If you haven't already added this calendar into you calendars you might need to .. and you would also need to have permission to modify it, as I presume you would? Then you should be able to click on the little arrow next to the calendar like this : Also, when the events are actually being added to the calendar you might need to make sue that they are public. This might offer some more advice : What are Private or Public Events? - Google Calendar Help Cheers 1

localzuk Posted June 14, 2012 Author Posted June 14, 2012 (edited) As I said in my original message, and in the reply to cromertech, that is the problem - there is no option for me to choose to allow everyone to view... Just 'Busy/Free'. This is the calendar settings page: And the domain settings: Edited June 14, 2012 by localzuk

CyberNerd Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Please see the screen shot in the post above. looks like that is in calendar settings, but you have overidden those settings with an organisational directive hence: manage this domain > Calendar > Org Settings > 1
localzuk Posted June 14, 2012 Author Posted June 14, 2012 looks like that is in calendar settings, but you have overidden those settings with an organisational directive hence: manage this domain > Calendar > Org Settings > That path doesn't exist. The settings for calendars are under the Dashboard -> Settings -> Calendar -> Org Settings, and the above is a screenshot of it... (the second of the 2 photos).

You can change the settings for each org unit. I have done this to stop students sharing outside the school
localzuk Posted June 14, 2012 Author Posted June 14, 2012 This is worth looking at if you are not using the administrator account to share the calendar. You can change the settings for each org unit. I have done this to stop students sharing outside the school I'm getting really confused here. 'Manage this domain -> Calendar -> Org Settings' doesn't exist. There is no 'Manage this domain' anywhere in google apps any more, it disappeared when they moved to the new look and feel. The admin control panel has the settings that you're talking about in the 'Settings' tab, and as I said, I posted a screenshot of our settings:

Ias the calendar user part of a sub-org that has a different setting?
localzuk Posted June 14, 2012 Author Posted June 14, 2012 Ias the calendar user part of a sub-org that has a different setting? Nope. All sub-orgs have the same settings inherited down to them.

CyberNerd Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 But the end point is the same - the settings are set as they should be. It looks like you have same settings as me. I'd go for a support call - it is free
localzuk Posted June 21, 2012 Author Posted June 21, 2012 Turns out this was a known bug that Google have been working on. It has now been fixed on our domain.
