Hello! Hope this is in the right place.

I have some tasks that appear to be 'stuck' in the RMMC tasks\In Progress area. I tried cancelling them, but they continue to just sit there saying 'cancelling' and have also tried to force termination of them but this does nowt also. If anyone has any ideas I would be most grateful.

How long have they been stuck - various tasks can have different timeout values and will then clear themselves - you really shoudlnt have to worry about tasks in there they will not normally cause any problems anyway!

They have been stuck since yesterday lunchtime...got 4 of them stuck. I'm tring to cancel a couple of package installs and uninstalls. They currently don't seem to be causing problems as you say, but I would just like to get rid of 'em to neaten things up. Can't understand why force cancel seems to do nothing?

It's all about where the task is being performed - most tasks are being sent to stations to do a job the station picks up the task (sent by MSMQ) so if you cancel the task its also being sent as a cancel task - so if your sending tasks to machines that arent on the network at the moment or have DNS issues then tasks hang about waiting to deliver the various jobs its been asked to do.

Package tasks will hang around for 4 days before clearing themselves.

Dont worry about the "state" of the tasks list unless you have loads of things hanging around forever.

Thanks for the info. The tasks are being sent to a virtual machine on the network. I shall keep an eye on them and hopfully they will clear themselves then.
