jamesfed Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 and here I am with my QNAP TS-212 and 2TB (after RAID1) storage although that is excluding the HP DL385 G1 that I have sitting in the rack at work....
IKWeb Posted June 17, 2012 Author Posted June 17, 2012 Wow you must be really rich to have afforded the required RM licences for two CC3 and two CC4 servers!! Fair play that's serious dedication to learning@home! Perks of the job. We get the licences FOC
garethEds Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 I have a 6 year old (at least) Dell Pentium D, a similar aged Dell D610 (both running XP Pro), a wireless router, a Virgin "Super" Hub, an old Intel print server box connected to an old HP 6122 inkjet...and...errr...that's it... I spend too much time at work every day with servers etc to want to have them at home as well ...oh and none of it runs 24/7...yes I am that tight fisted... ...but I am trying to find some cash to buy a small NAS box to store my photos... I'm with you there @CESIL - I used to think about running stuff at home but now I sit either upstairs in my study on my trusty 4Gb iMac 24" 2010 model. Or I sit downstairs using the school Samsung P510 laptop with Windows 7. If I'm reading I'll use my iPad. If I want films I'll watch Sky or if I want music I'll plug in my phone. Like you I don't run it 24/7 - but respect to those who do. With leccy prices going up my usage will go down hopefully. Any of you guys with massive servers at home got kids? Gareth
