Sharepoint (MOSS 2007) Search - No Results Returned

This is starting to drive me mad now!

 

In a nutshell, when attempting to search for anything in our Sharepoint site, search returns no results at all.

 

Our portal is secured with https and forms-based authentication; I gather this is a problem to the search routine, so I have followed the instructions on this page, I believe to the letter:

 

How to crawl Smart Card or Forms Based (FBA) Enabled Web Applications

 

Although the crawl completes successfully (thousands of results found apparently), these are not shown to the end user doing to search. Each search that is made is logged in the SSP pages, so it seems to be talking ok.

 

Very strange, anyone else had this issue please?
