Air conditioning

we're cooling our server room on two amcor portable 15k units right now - there is a split unit in there (24k btu) but it packed up 2 weeks ago (we move to the new building in 2 weeks time!!!)

 

they're coping alright but are running constantly which isn't going to be good, keeping the room between 25-28c... venting all of the hot air into the corridor to cook the kids

 

 

and i just realise what a noob ive been, i saw it as 06-06 and thought, oh, 2008! nope! 2007... erghhh. i blame the similar threads thing!!

our office is split into 2....one side has all our servers in...and it gets pretty hot in there! so the aircon is on max in that part of the office. then our side where we work and have our workstations also has an air con unit which is on if we feel too hot...its highly recommended you have one in your server room!!

Well that won't work will it? The wattage on my PC here is listed as "400W", but that is the MAXIMUM it will DELIVER. So, if running minimal processor it will be less, and flat out (due to losses) more.

 

The heating pipes won't have a rating plate on them. How about sunlight and your body heat? 150w sedentary seems a common figure, but I thought it was higher.

 

In short, you need someone who knows what they are doing to advise you!

 

...and the proportion of heat that's generated by flourescent lighting in the room should also be taken into account.
