[css] CSS Menu disappearing

Been finishing off the last bit of my A Level IT cwk. But have hit a bit of an issue, i have created a horizontal menu that has drop downs however on the front page and on a page that has video content embedded the drop down bar disappears behind either the picture slide show or the embedded video. Does any one know how i can rectify this so that the menu always appear on top?
