number34 Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 We have had network problems and I have not been able to run reports as my tempSimsRpt folder was inaccessible. Is it possible to alter the location of this folder, perhaps to my local drive?
number34 Posted May 21, 2012 Author Posted May 21, 2012 Matt, I wasn't clear enough, sorry. I know it uses My Documents but I would like it to use somewhere else if possible.
localzuk Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 As far as I'm aware, it is hard-coded into SIMS.net so you can't change its location. Matt is right - you need to fix the My Documents issue really.
vikpaw Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Could you somehow create the folder in my docs, then redirect it locally to somewhere it is accessible. Seems like a silly solution, but if that's what you want.
number34 Posted May 21, 2012 Author Posted May 21, 2012 Vik, problem was with a virtual server not being able to access the network storage and it took two days to resolve. I could run SIMS fine just not reports. It seems strange that a temp folder needs to be in my documents, why not use the local temp folder? Peter
matt40k Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Pretty sure it's because you can store user defined templates. Using the temp folder would mean they get wiped. Again, like @localzuk has said, you need to sort the My Documents issue out. Fix the problem not the symptoms.
number34 Posted May 21, 2012 Author Posted May 21, 2012 Surely user defined templates are not saved in a temp folder? A temp folder could be wiped at any time..... As to fixing My Documents here it is on the network and I'm not technical enough to know how to fix it, any suggestions?

localzuk Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Correct, I am the SIMS & Data Manager. I'd suggest referring it to your Network Manager to deal with. If we had an issue that was affecting SIMS.net operation here, our data manager would contact me to resolve it.
matt40k Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Ok, the quick letter report (the custom template I was referring to) sits in My Sims Documents which is within My Documents. Also with My SIMS Documents is the tempSimsRpt.
