Hi folks,

I need to get the forest functional level up to 2003 it is currently on 2000. There is only one domain in the forest in the forest and that is already at 2003. Can anyone envisage any issues with this? I haven't been able to find anything thus far.

Cheers

If all your DCs are 2003 and you only have the one domain then it shouldnt be a problem.

From Microsoft

Do not raise the functional level if the domain has or will have a domain controller that is of an earlier version than the version that is cited for that level.

Fiza,

I should have said, yes all of the domain controllers are 2003. There is only one domain and that is already at 2003 functional level. I need to raise the forest functional level. Sorry for the confusion in my original post.

Ben,

This is a prerequisite for Lync server which we are planning on deploying in a couple of months

cheers

You'll also find introducing 2008 R2 servers will require a minimum of 2003 domain/forest functional levels too.

So for those that don't know, you couldn't have a 2000, 2003 and 2008 R2 DC in the same domain, but you could have a 2000 member server (if you really wanted to).
