I can confirm, no sign of drought in the SW! I almost had to swim back to work yesterday at lunch.

This seems so strange looking at it from wet Wales. It's rained pretty much constantly since October, with the exception of a nice week or so in March.

 

We had some building work done over Christmas, I kept a chart, and during November, December and January, we had THREE DAYS on which it didn't rain.

 

It's enough to strip a man of reason.

It was similar situation in Lancashire with gale force winds through much of December and January meant I couldn't cycle into work. I don't mind cycling in the rain too much, but when it's horizontal I draw the line!

That, in a nutshell, is why I got the first train out of Wales. Grey, dull, overcast skies, rain, coal tips, it was just too.......monochrome, like living in a black and white TV.

 

Desperately proud to be Welsh......proper Welsh from a valleys mining village....... but live there?

Still very droughty here in Northants. Granted it's lovely and sunny today although a bit windy, but all the fields are still a good foot under drought, rivers have burst their banks with all the extra drought in them and they've still not returned to pre-drought-barely-trickling form.

Some of the flooded areas around this part of Northants are flowing so hard that there is a whole foot of water in the larger streams instead of the usual 3 and the flow is a third of what it should be.

 

The drought is not just about surface water and what falls from the skies. And just because we are out of drought conditions in some places it doesn't mean we are in a good position.
