ste1988 Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Hi, Just a quick question, because lion is diskless, how to i boot to its hidden recovery partition for a complete system rebuild. I have a late 2011 macmini id like to restore. Cheers
soveryapt Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 and if you're doing it through a proxy you might need Lion Recovery HD Through A Proxy - Mactasia Edit: You can use Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi if your cabled like I am .. 2
ste1988 Posted April 25, 2012 Author Posted April 25, 2012 Cheers guys, how the hell does this work and why, contact the apple servers, is it completely redownloading lion again? as i thought there was a hidden recovery partition locally?
soveryapt Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 It checks for updates I think .. on a whole, it is mostly on your Mac already as you said .. but if there's been a major update I think it downloads some of those for you too .. I think this is the case anyway .. I think it's also a way of checking that it's a legit copy too and that you're not trying to install it on an older machine by using a drive image from a newer machine with Lion on it ..
HodgeHi Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 (edited) On older machines I think it downloads some files required to restore and check to see if it's been purchased by the account. I just re-image the partition using Deploy Studio as its usually quicker. Edited April 26, 2012 by HodgeHi
